If another company on BordersHub breaks the Terms of Service, you can report it. BordersHub reviews every report and tells your organization its decision.
When to report a company
Report a company when you see, for example:
- sexually explicit or other adult content, in any form: evidence files, its logo, profile pictures or text;
- material it has no right to share, such as pirated software or paid standards and reports;
- false or misleading information, or a company pretending to be someone it isn't;
- fraud, scams, harassment, spam, or malware.
For a disagreement with a partner about a deal or about what its profile says, talk to the company directly. BordersHub doesn't verify companies' statements or judge business disputes.
Sending a report
- Open the company's trust page and select Report this company (on the public page, at the bottom). On its full trust profile, it's the Report button at the top.
- Choose the reason and describe the problem: what you saw and where (for example, which evidence file or section). Both are required. Be specific; BordersHub can only act on what it can find.
- Select Send report. You get a reference like
RPT-7K2Q9XWM.
- You need to be signed in, and your role must be able to contact support. Read-only members can see your organization's reports but can't send one.
- You can't report your own organization.
- One report at a time per company. While your organization's report about a company is waiting for a decision, nobody in your organization can send another about that company; its page shows Reported (RPT-…) instead, linking to your report. You can still report other companies (one each), and you can report the same company again once BordersHub has decided. To add information meanwhile, open the report and use Add information.
- The reported company isn't told who reported it.
What can happen to a reported company
BordersHub reviews each report, and also looks at what was reported for itself. Where it finds the report accurate and reasonably founded, it can take any of the actions the Terms of Service (section 9) allow, without notice to the reported company and without any refund:
- removing and permanently deleting the content, such as an evidence file, a logo or a profile picture;
- taking the company's published trust profile offline;
- suspending the person responsible, or the whole company;
- for serious or repeated breaches, closing the company's account for good.
BordersHub isn't obliged to act on every report, or within a set time. If a report isn't founded, nothing happens to the reported company.
Report honestly
Reporting is for real problems. Abusing it breaks the Terms itself (section 9), for example:
- a report you know is false or misleading;
- reporting a competitor to damage or disrupt its business;
- repeated or coordinated reports you know are unfounded;
- using reports to harass a company or to find out information about it.
BordersHub can then act against your organization, without notice and without any refund: closing your reports, turning off reporting for your organization (you then can't send new reports, but everything else works and you can still answer questions on reports you already sent; the Reports page shows why), or suspending or closing your account. If BordersHub acted against a company because of a report that turns out to be knowingly false, your organization is responsible for the consequences.
BordersHub's decisions on reports are made to enforce the Terms; they aren't a legal judgement about either company, and BordersHub doesn't settle business disputes. If a decision affects your organization and you disagree, contact BordersHub and ask it to reconsider.
Following your report
Your organization's reports are under Reports in the sidebar (in the Support group). Everyone in your organization who can contact support sees them. A report is Received, then Under review, then Decided.
If BordersHub needs more information, it asks you on the report, which then shows Waiting for your reply (and a badge next to Reports). Open the report, answer under Reply to BordersHub, and the review continues. You can also add information on your own at any time before the decision. Only your organization and BordersHub see this conversation; the reported company doesn't. BordersHub may decide without waiting for an answer if it already has enough. Once a report is decided, nothing more can be added to it.
The decision is one of:
- Action taken: BordersHub found a problem and acted, for example by removing content or suspending the account.
- No violation found: BordersHub looked and found nothing that breaks the Terms.
Each decision comes with a message from BordersHub Support. A new decision (like an unanswered question) is marked with a badge next to Reports until someone opens it, and it's also recorded in your Audit Log. To protect everyone involved, BordersHub may not share every detail of what it did.
